Primafot (Robot II E III/R) from 1950

Techniko G.M.B.H. Düsseldorf. Automatic passport camera based on the Robot camera, also known as Fotomatic-Junior, 58 x 54 cm (height x width). Introduced at Photokina 1950, it enabled all photo retailers and druggists who did not hold a master photographer’s certificate from the Chamber of Commerce to still produce passport photos, as the customer photographed themselves (with a shutter release only for him). Robot camera number B97789, Xenar 3.5/50 mm lens, split mirror in good condition, version without lamp attachment, but cable connection present. Since the device was sealed at the back and was only opened by us, opening the camera back revealed that there was still film in the two cassettes. By removing the cable release and manually pressing the shutter release, the camera fired several times without any problems after more than half a century. It would be interesting to know if there are still customer photos on the film. An outstanding exhibit, relating both to the history of Germany, to the practice of business without regulatory authorities, and to for the security technology of person identification. Well preserved and extremely rare. Electrical functions not tested.

Techniko G.M.B.H. Düsseldorf. Automatische Passbildkamera auf Basis der Robot-Kamera, auch bekannt unter dem Namen Fotomatic-Junior, Höhe x Breite 58 x 54 cm. Vorgestellt auf der Photokina 1950 ermöglichte es allen Photohändlern und Drogisten, die nicht einen Photographenmeister-Titel der Handelskammer besaßen, trotzdem Passbilder zu erstellen, da der Kunde sich selbst photographierte (mit Auslöser nur für ihn). Robot Kamera Nr. B97789, Xenar 3,5/50 mm, Teilerspiegel gut, Version ohne Lampenaufsatz, doch Kabelanschluß vorhanden. Da das Gerät rückseitig abgeschlossen war und erst von uns geöffnet wurde, ergab das Öffnen der Kamera-Rückwand, das in den beiden Kassetten noch ein Film drin war. Durch Abnehmen des Drahtauslösers und durch Betätigen von Hand löste die Kamera mehrfach nach über einem halben Jahrhundert problemlos aus. Es wäre interessant zu wissen, ob noch Kundenphotos auf dem Film sind. Hervorragendes Ausstellungsstück, sowohl zur Geschichte der BRD, zur Gewerbeausübung ohne Instanzen und zur Sicherheitstechnik der Personenerkennung. Gut erhalten und von großer Seltenheit. Elektrik nicht geprüft.
