Early German 6 x 9 Rollfilm Camera Film-Afpi, c. 1901

Wünsche, Dresden, Film-Afpi even without body number, precise film format 88 x 56.5 mm for 63–66 mm wide 120-type rollfilm, with wine-red bellows, polished hardwood interior, only one strut as designed, transport with click-lock, distance scale in feet and meters (typical of export cameras for the English and French markets), without stamp of origin, meniscus lens 12/85 mm in double-lamella tension shutter 1/50 sec. and B (similar in design to the Fulgur), revolver aperture 12, 17 and 34, reflex-finder turnable, on back red window for film number reading, shutter releases, one part of the wood on front standard missing (replaceable), with retailer’s label “Cycle No 1 W.K. Paris”. – Probably the first 6 x 9 rollfilm camera produced in Germany. The 120-rollfilm (brownie spool) was available from 1901 onwards. Even earlier model than the Film-Afpi from May 2023, cat. no. 89, at our auction. – A very rare and early German camera that resembles the Palmos and ultimately the Leica.

Film-Afpi noch ohne Gehäuse-Nummer, exaktes Filmformat 88 x 56,5 mm für 63–66 mm breiten Rollfilm wie Typ 120, weinroter Balgen, innen Edelholz poliert, original mit nur einer Spreize, Transport mit Klick-Raste. Typische Exportkamera ohne Herkunftsnachweis für England und Frankreich (Entfernungs-Skala in Feet und Meters), Meniskus-Optik 12/85 mm in 2-Lamellen-Spannverschluß 1/50 Sek. und B, läuft (ähnlich dem Verschluß der Fulgur), vorgesetzte Revolverblende 12, 17 und 34, umklappbarer Reflexsucher für Hochformat, rückseitig Rotfenster zur Filmnummer, an Standarte eine Fehlstelle am Holz (ersetzbar), mit Händlerschildchen “Cycle No 1 W.K. Paris”. – Wohl die erste 6×9-Rollfilmkamera deutscher Produktion. Den 120er-Film (Brownie-Spule) gab es ab 1901. Dies ist ein noch früheres Exemplar als die Film-Afpi vom Mai 2023, Kat.-Nr. 89, bei uns. Sehr sehr seltene, frühe deutsche Kamera. Sie wirkt wie ein Vorentwurf zur Palmos Film Kamera und deutet in Richtung Leica.
