Serial no. 1304. Designed by Byron A. Brooks, a member of the early development team of the Sholes & Glidden. The Brooks is one of the legendary four typewriters, in which the typebar was placed behind the platen to allow visible writing for the 1st time, the other 3 being: Fitch, the Waverley and North’s. – Literature: Martin, 1949, p. 96. – The plastic cover has presumably been replaced; otherwise in good, unrestored and working condition. A real rarity!

Brooks, der schon an der Entwicklung der “Sholes & Glidden” beteiligt war. – Die “Brooks” ist eine der legendären 4 Schreibmaschinen, die damals den Typenkorb hinter der Schreibwalze angeordnet hatten, um “sichtbares” Schreiben zu ermöglichen; die 3 anderen sind: “Fitch”, “Waverley” und “North’s”. – Literatur: Martin, 1949, S. 96. – Kunststoff-Abdeckung vermutlich erneuert, ansonsten guter unrestaurierter und funktionierender Zustand. Eine Riesen-Rarität!
