996: Musik-Puppenautomat "Aubade à la Lune" von Gustave Vichy, um 1885 € 16.000,-
Pierrot thront auf der Spitze eines Halbmonds mit menschlichem Antlitz, mit Papiermaché-Kopf, braunen Glasaugen, beweglicher Zunge und beweglichen Me- tallhänden, in gut erhaltenem blauem Original-Satin- frack mit großen Glasperlenknöpfen, Weste, Halskrause und spitzen Schuhen, Federwerkantrieb, Walzenspiel- werk mit 2 Melodien, einem Walzer und einer Polka, Höhe 52 cm, mit eichelförmigem Stopp/Start-Hebel, unauffällige alte Retusche an dem Hals und den Lippen des Pierrot, den Wolken und den Mondlippen, eine alte Stütze an der Spitze des Mondes, ansonsten in gutem Zustand. – Literatur: Bailly, "Automata, the Golden Age, 1848–1914", S. 86 und 87. – Der Mond war ein beliebtes Motiv der visuellen Kultur des späten 19. Jahrhunderts, inspirierend für vielfältige Metiers wie die Werbung, das frühe Kino und Automaten. Hier wird Pierrot gesehen, wie er mit seiner Mandoline dem Mond ein Ständchen bringt, den Kopf dreht und beugt und seine Zunge herausstreckt, während der Mond sein Auge rollt und seinen Mund wie verzaubert bewegt. – Ein prägnanter Vichy-Automat in außergewöhnlich gutem Originalzustand.

Pierrot perched on the tip of a personified papier- mâché crescent moon, with papier-mâché head, brown glass eyes, articulated tongue and metal hands, in orig- inal well-preserved blue satin tailcoat with large glass- pearl buttons, waistcoat, ruff and pointed shoes, with going-barrel motor and two-air musical movement playing a waltz and a polka, ht. 20 1⁄2 in. (52 cm), with acorn-form stop/start, unobtrusive old retouch on Pier- rot's neck and lips, clouds and moon's lips, old rein- forcement on tip of moon, otherwise good. – Literature: Bailly, "Automata, the Golden Age, 1848–1914", pp. 86, 87. – The moon was a popular motif in late 19th century visual culture, inspiring métiers as diverse as advertis- ing, the early cinema and automata. Here Pierrot is seen serenading a crescent moon with his mandolin, turning and bowing his head and sticking out his tongue as the moon rolls her eye and moves her mouth as though enchanted. – An iconic Vichy automaton in exceptionally fine original working condition.
