»Musical Coquette Automaton

With French bisque head impressed "6", closed mouth, fixed brown paperweight eyes with light-brown feathered brows and shaded lids, pierced ears, hand-knotted ash-blonde dressed mohair wig, bisque shoulder-plate and finely modeled arms, the right bent at the elbow to hold powder-puff in her hand, the left holding a bone looking glass, shapely body with metal "skirt" that houses two-air going-barrel movement with Vichy key and brass "acorn" stop/start, elaborately costumed in rose silk and brocade decorated with ruched ribbons and lace, height 23 ½ in. (60 cm). Accompanying the automaton is a velvet-covered cheval mirror with brass candle holders, height 25 in. (64 cm). – The lady turns and inclines her head, bends gracefully forwards, powders her cheek and then lifts the looking glass to admire her appearance. – A beautiful exhibition piece in flawless working condition!
