»Early Rosewood Sea Quadrant by George Adams the Elder«, 1751
No. 13, dated "11 Nov 1751" and signed "Invented and made by Geo. Adams at Tycho Brahe's Head in Fleet Street, London", of rosewood, brass and boxwood, with original lacquer, mica window, scale graduated 0–90 and 90–0 degrees, 17¼-inch (44cm) index arm and 4-inch (10cm) telescope, with three additional mica inserts. In pine case with original maker's advertising label, English dealer's letterhead and card dated 12. July 1774. Excellent original condition.
