      Coin-operated phonograph, manufactured by "The Manhattan Phonograph Company, New York", fitted with an Edison "Suitcase" Standard mechanism
      modified for automatic coin-operation, with additional string-wound carriage return spring barrel; unusual coin chute with ramp, horseshoe magnet and brass catching cup (a simple but ingenious mechanism to reject bad money). In oak cabinet with front and lateral panels, drop-front for the cash box, hinged lid with lateral glass panels and rounded viewing glass, crank on the right side. Top with porcelain instruction plaque lettered: "Edison Phonograph – Directions – Turn crank on side of cabinet 8 turns and let go – then drop 1 cent in slot", with mount for the earphones on rubber tubs, on "Queen Anne"-style metal legs, overall height 57 in.
